Less than 100 days to go, the switch to double figures certainly makes it all seem a lot closer. Our main goals now are to finish planning our 2 months travelling, to finish packing (and selling everything we don't want to take), to find a job and somewhere to live. This still seems like so much, but when you consider what we have already achieved, it is only a small proportion of the total work that has gone into this move.
I have secured my visa, and as you can see from previous blog entries this became quite a challenge, with unrealistic expectations of the average persons record keeping skills, and the difficulty in getting people to write those accursed statutory declarations. Then there was having to pay some old man to do my photocopying and the health check and x-ray to contend with. Still it is done, and with better results than I could have hoped.
I have also managed to get my self to a stage where I am able to get temporary registration as a pharmacist in Australia in order to undertake my supervised practice. Again to get here involved a lot of expensive form filling in, and of course the dreaded CAOP exam. There is more dreaded form filling in to go, but this will be unlikely to happen before I get to Australia.
After a lot of chopping and changing in our travel plans, first planning to go via south America, then finally agreeing to go through south east Asia, we have booked our flights to Melbourne. We have still got a bit of planning to go with this, but we have got a lot of the trip sorted already, including a few of the local flights, hotels and visas.
In an attempt to help clear out our house, we are having a house clearing sale tomorrow. We have advertised on facebook, and in several local shops, so with a bit of luck we will gain some interest. This time next week we may have a very empty house, then again we might not. If we don't manage to sell enough we will have to consider further trips to charity shops, and maybe having a go at freecycle.
