Count Down to Emigration...165 days....again...

Today B had his big day, and is now a fully fledged British citizen.  We arrived at the Guildhall early, and spent some time taking photos.  We then got led into the room the ceremony was to be held in, along with a dozen or so other people.  All the participants had a seat in the front row, and all the guests like me were relegated to the back.  The 'New Citizens' were divided into two groups, the half that wanted to swear an oath, and the other half that wanted to state their affirmation.  B was in the affirmation half.  The whole process lasted less than half an hour, and was ended with a half hearted rendition of the national anthem.  As well as his certificate, B received a commemorative paperweight from Bath and North East Somerset council.  This weekend he will apply for his British Passport.  Something he has been looking forward to for a while.

For the good mathematicians amongst you, or those who are just keeping up with our countdown, you will notice that instead of being 161 days, we are back up to 165 days.  This is because we have confirmed our tickets to Australia.  We fly out from terminal 3 at heathrow on the 27th November!  Now with a 50% cancellation fee, I had better get that visa.
